Sustainability

We have an ongoing commitment to our environment and we aim to reduce energy and water consumption through the reduction of energy and water use. We hold ‘earth hour’ on a daily basis where we ensure we switch off what is not in use and we encourage our children to bring a package free morning tea and lunch to Preschool.

Solar panels and natural ventilation, ceiling fans, energy saving lights and energy efficient appliances allow for a healthy play environment. The installation of a water tank allows us to harvest rain to water our gardens.

The construction of a natural playscape allows children spaces to reflect, to play and climb. There are bush rocks and a dry creek bed to explore, a homestead cubby for role play, a mud patch for digging, a vine covered tee pee to hide in and lots of space for active play.

The natural playground is our outdoor classroom where children spend time connecting with nature. The play environment boasts natural shade provided by established trees shade covers, an edible garden, a herb garden, an enchanted garden, a worm farm and compost bin. Our magnificent, eucalyptus tree contains a possum box and our homestead cubby house roof is home to a hive of native stingless bees. Our outdoor environment is a natural living landscape filled with an abundance of natural discovery spaces that assists each child to maintain a strong love for the natural world. Our native stingless bees and edible gardens help children and families become aware of pollination and food production and how each of us can have a positive impact on the sustainability of the natural world for future generations.

We wish to thank all the families, staff and management of the preschool for the creation of our playground  a well as the NSW State Government for grants that allowed for the creation of an upgrade to our beautiful outdoor learning environment and renovation and expansion of our outdoor bathroom.
